LIKE NEW
THE WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN MEMORIAL HIGHWAY is a safe, modern macadam highway with wide curves, ample room for two lanes of traffic, the average grade being 8% and at no point exceeding 10%. For the benefit of those who have done little or no driving in mountainous country, and thus not familiar with using engine compression as a braking medium in descending long grades, the following driving hints are suggested.
If your car is equipped with overdrive or cruising gear, be sure either is locked out before starting down a long grade. If driving a car with conventional shift, use second gear when descending, being sure NOT to ride the clutch or hold the clutch pedal down. Cars with automatic shift, change to “holding gear,” while cars which use fluid drive transmissions should be driven down The Whiteface Mountain Memorial Highway in low range.
The above suggestions give every vehicle descending a long grade the benefit of engine compression as a braking medium, and if followed, should eliminate excessive use of brakes. Should constant braking be necessary to keep a car under 30 miles per hour, the driver should stop and seek advice or assistance before proceeding.
A staff of trained, courteous and capable patrolmen are on duty on the Whiteface Mountain Memorial Highway. Their job is to be of help to you. They welcome your questions and the opportunity to serve you in every way.

From the Summit House atop Whiteface nearly a mile above the seaunfold scenes of indescribable beauty. Vermont, Canada, and the vast State Adirondack forest preserve lie below, a panorama of unequalled beauty.
This has been called the “Supreme Scenic Thrill of the North American Continent”… a ride in your own automobile up the magnificent motor highway that winds leisurely up the slopes of Whiteface Mountain at the head of Lake Placid in the Adirondacks.
WHITEFACE MOUNTAIN stands alone. There is no peak of comparable size within 30 miles. Your view is unobstructed no matter in which direction you look.
At the terminus of the road, 262 feet vertically from the summit, stands Whiteface Castle, a magnificent Norman-type building of gray stone, open to all. Here you may rest, obtain souvenirs, and enjoy a good meal at moderate cost.
Two routes cover the remaining short distance from the free parking space to the summit: The first is a foot path winding upward by easy steps and grades that are will protected by hand railings – this gives the thrill of mountain climbing at about 5,000 feet elevation with entire safety.
The other is a modern electric elevator, through the heart of the rock summit, which whisks you straight to the mountain top. Four hundred feet from the end of the Highway a tunnel pierces the stone mass for a distance of 424 feet. You walk through this to the elevator, which rises 276 feet through the heart of the mountain and emerges in a stone shelter house at the very tip of the great spire.
This shelter house is surrounded by an open stone balcony. Here you can rest and enjoy the superb views in comfort.
IT COST A MILLION AND A QUARTER DOLLARS TO BUILD
The Highway required four years to build and cost a million and a quarter dollars. The toll charge per passenger is one dollar, with half rate for children under twelve.
It is open from about May 1 to about November 1 each year; these dated depending upon weather conditions.
CAPTIONS:
Tunnel through the heart of Whiteface Mountain to Elevator Entrance.

It is impossible to list all the scenic landmarks that come into view as you make this amazing journey to the skies. Even the accompanying chart suggests only a few. Take this chart with you to use as a guide while you look through the powerful telescopes at the summit. Set the pointer on the telescope to select the Peak, Lake, or Village you wish to locate.

All these brochures were found in my uncle's / grandmother's attic.
My uncle began collecting these from dealers about age 13.
Combined items reduces total shipping cost. I will combine into a 1 package weight shipping.
I use a sheet of cardboard so these don't get bent.
