Hello !

Up for sale is an amazing vintage amplifier from CMI Electronics S.G. Systems...The SG 100 !

From my understanding, this amp was supposed to be a collaboration between Gibson and CMI Electronics and some other music giants of the day. I'm not even sure what the real story on this is, as I couldn't find any exact info on this unit,...just going by what I heard on youtube.

But never mind this boring and relatively inconsequential back story.  What I do know is that few pieces of gear really truly inspire us to play and create and improve.  I believe this amp is one of those pieces, at least for me and my playing!

HUGE transformers ! Large Fender size power tubes...I'm going to guess that they're either 6v6's or 6L6's. Looks like one 12ax7 preamp tube, so the amp stays relatively clean at loud volumes. But let me tell, you, crank the channel volume up and you get that hint or edge of breakup sound and even a little bit of crunch when you dig into your chords, and this thing sounds as SWEET as can be ! AS only a big amp with Fender type tubes would sound like !

I play my six string through this thing usually. But the funny thing is, I believe this is actually a bass amp!  And she sounds terrific for that purpose as well ! And like the Fender Bassman , once again, we six stringers have taken an amp that is just a beast of a bass amp and borrowed it for our malevolent purposes of creating sounds and emotions that are out of this world !

You've got two channels controlled by a master volume.  Each channel has a hi and lo input, a channel volume control, and treble and bass controls as well.  But what really makes this amp cool is that channel two also has a mid control as well as a notch shift control, which seems to tailor your midrange frequencies even more...kind of like a contour knob, maybe? Gives you really a ton of tonal options for your mids, which is where the guitar lives most of the time ! There is also a wave form knob on this channel. The best way I can describe it is like a tremolo effect, but very subtle.  Just enough to give your sound a pleasing depth and motion to it that you might overdo if you used a traditional tremolo unit!

Get your cab (guitar OR bass) ready and prepare to enter sonic bliss...but don't wait too long as someone else might snag this hard to find piece of history before you do!

Please read the condition description, these listing details, and examine the pictures carefully.

Thanks so much for your interest and I hope you buy it now!!!!
