LOU GEHRIG.  Original 1929 photograph of Bob Shawkey with an injury to his pitching arm that forced him to leave Major League Baseball permanently personally owned by Lou Gehrig.  Shawkey and Gehrig were close friends who played five seasons together with the New York Yankees between 1923 to 1927.  Shawkey also coached Gehrig as the Yankees manager in 1930.
