The American Israel Numismatic Association (AINA) was established in 1967. Its aim is to promote knowledge about coins and medals and numismatic details relating to ancient and modern Israel. AINA issues the world's only English-language periodical exclusively dedicated to Israel and Judaic numismatics, "The Shekel". Even though AINA is by definition a US-based association, its membership compasses the world, including a substantial number of members in Israel, several of whom contribute to The Shekel. From time to time AINA organizes numismatic tours to Israel, which includes meetings with local numismatists. Since its foundation until the present, AINA issues yearly membership medals to its members. These medals have become collectors' items.

The obverse of this medal is graced by an ancient oil lamp. Its light symbolizing learning and knowledge. The inscriptions read: "American-Israel Numismatic Association" and "10th Anniversary 1967-1977".

The AINA seal surrounded by rushing waves, symbolizing feverish activity, appears on the reverse.
