These are sets of cards with the days of the week on them, there are also cards with ‘Today’ and ‘Tomorrow’ on them. The cards can be used in a great many ways, for example, to learn the days, indicate which day something is happening, head a chart or notice board, use on communication boards, etc the list is endless.
The picture cards come in three sizes and have looped Velcro dots on the back. They are suitable for all communication systems and books/folders. For example Pecs, story lines, story boards, sentence strip, schedules, communication books, and many other communication methods. The key ring option makes transportation between places very easy and is a good size to put into a bag, pocket or folder. The key ring and flash cards do not have the Velcro loops on the back.
The Flash cards are approx. 7 cm X 10 cm and we offer them as a set or on a key ring. This size of key ring is excellent for having in a more permanent place or hanging up with other sets.
The larger size is 15 cm X 10 cm and great for notice boards or classroom use where this size is clearer for whole class teaching.
We do all these cards in two different fonts, one is in a bold type and the other is in comic sans font. They all stick to the same colours for each day so that all the sets can be used with each other without any confusion.
As children/young people/adults with difficulties are often visual learners these images help with transference and recall and help implant the days into their memory. The time tables are an invaluable aid to help the person you care for understand what is happening and will also help them plan their day and communicate with you what they want to do.

This is a fantastic teaching aid and ideal for developing the individual. If using a visual communication system for the first time there are things you may need to consider such as the age and dexterity of your child/young person/adult. So we offer the square cards in three sizes with Velcro loop dots on the back.
The 6cm pictures are especially good for young children and those with visual difficulties. The very popular 4.5cm pictures are great for children/young people/adults who are learning how to use a visual communication and while they develop their fine motor skills. They are easier to use than the 3 cm pictures which are for the more practised children/young people/adults.
You may also wish to think about how portable your system might need to be and how many cards your child/young person/adult will possibly have to carry around, as this may determine the size of the pictures you want. Many people use a larger size at home or school/activity/care centre/hospital and use a smaller more portable set when travelling between places. Eventually the smaller size may be used more permanently. Consider eventually buying two sets so you can have one at home or school and one at another place which is attended regularly and where they will want to communicate. Consistency is very important.
