Ivan Sermoskin (Jan Sermosky) - an animal painter of the early 20th century. Unfortunately, very little information has been preserved about him. After studying the entire collection and summarizing information by individual phrases, marginal notes and the back of drawings, sketchy notes, fragments of a preserved notebook, can understand the following:
Ivan Sermoskin was from a family of Old Believers of Pomerania and lived in the Murmansk Province of the Russian Empire. He began to paint in early childhood and the main theme for life became drawings of animals, sometimes people, fairy-tale characters, witches, demons, history and religion. In 1916 he entered the St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of Arts. After the revolution of 1917 in 1918, the government of the Russian Soviet Republic closed this academy. With the beginning of the oppression and persecution of the Old Believers in Russia, the artist decides to move to Latvia. In Liepaja, he works in a banking institution and many of the drawings are executed on the back of bank forms. Ivan Sermoskin (in Latvia, he took the name in Polish or Latvian manner, Jan Sermosky) devotes all his free time to painting. In total, he created more than 8,000 works for the period 1906-1962. After the death of the artist (circa 1963), the drawings remain in obscurity for over 40 years. In 2008 they fall into my collection and, thanks to the Internet, come off again.

Ivan Sermoskin (Jan Sermosky) - ein Tiermaler des frühen 20. Jahrhunderts. Leider sind nur sehr wenige Informationen über ihn erhalten. Nach dem Studium der gesamten Sammlung und dem Zusammenfassen von Informationen anhand einzelner Ausdrücke, Randnotizen und der Rückseite von Zeichnungen können Notizen, Fragmente eines erhaltenen Notizbuchs, Folgendes verstehen:
Ivan Sermoskin stammte aus einer Familie von Altgläubigen aus Pommern und lebte in der Provinz Murmansk des Russischen Reiches. Er begann in früher Kindheit zu malen und das Hauptthema des Lebens wurden Zeichnungen von Tieren, manchmal Menschen, Märchenfiguren, Hexen, Dämonen, Geschichte und Religion. 1916 trat er in die kaiserliche Kunstakademie St. Petersburg ein. Nach der Revolution von 1917 im Jahr 1918 schloss die Regierung der Russischen Sowjetrepublik diese Akademie. Mit Beginn der Unterdrückung und Verfolgung der Altgläubigen in Russland beschließt der Künstler, nach Lettland zu ziehen. In Liepaja arbeitet er in einem Bankinstitut und viele der Zeichnungen werden auf der Rückseite von Bankformularen ausgeführt. Ivan Sermoskin (in Lettland nahm er den Namen in polnischer oder lettischer Sprache an, Jan Sermosky) widmet sich in seiner ganzen Freizeit der Malerei. Insgesamt schuf er zwischen 1906 und 1962 mehr als 8.000 Werke. Nach dem Tod des Künstlers (um 1963) bleiben die Zeichnungen über 40 Jahre im Dunkeln. 2008 fallen sie in meine Sammlung und kommen dank des Internets wieder raus.
Alle Zeichnungen haben ihre eigene handschriftliche Inschrift mit einer Notiz, manchmal der Unterschrift des Künstlers und fast immer einer Datierung.
Alle Zeichnungen sind sofort als Werk des Künstlers erkennbar.
