Gabriel Lafond de Lucry was a 19th-century
French sailor who is best remembered for his voyages in South America and
political appointments in Costa Rica. In 1843, Lucry published an eight-volume
work describing his world voyages under the title ‘Voyages autour du monde’.
This work covered his exploration in the Americas, adventures on the sea,
China, as well as reports of famous shipwrecks!
This atlas tome is a collection of the
impressive illustrations from Lucry’s ‘Voyages’. It includes 76 full-page
engravings, 31 of which are in beautiful color. Notable plates include
