The Allegorical Fountain

The label on the back reads, "At the western end ...'stands' (present tense) the handsome allegorical fountain". The fair ran from January 'til July of 1894 and the fountain was torn down when the fair ended so this 'has-to-be' an original from 1894. Also of note: Francis Marion Wells is not mentioned on the label. It looks like it was framed in the 1940s-50s? But again, we have that present tense phrase strongly suggesting it was, in fact, framed in 1894 while the fountain was still standing. The ONLY other copy of this colorized litho we could find is archived at San Francisco State University (theirs is archived as original from 1894). Measures about 15" by 17" to outside of original frame. Shipping will be $8.95 to any U.S. zipcode ($18.00 foreign).
