Thai Silver Repousse Bowl

A late 19th century Siamese (modern day Thailand) silver bowl. It is of repousse form and has chased detail to the exterior. These were often made by Siamese silversmiths for the Chinese market, as such they often carry Chinese silver marks as indeed this example does. It dates to the end of the 19th century and these bowls were used for offerings and for containing water to freshen up etc. The exterior of this example has the Kanok leaf pattern, a traditional pattern for Siamese work. Stamped marks to the underside.

Condition

Generally good with minor period wear. Exterior quite nicely polished with the interior in more natural state. Some wear and minor deformations to base through use.
