This is a laminated A4 wall chart designed to help a person think about strategies to help them think through a situation. The chart is intended to be placed in a position so that the child, young person or adult can readily access it. It explains the rules of ‘STAR’ and guides them through the four points. When they have managed to complete a point they can put a star on that point and move into the next one. This allows them time to clam down, try to rationalise and think productively about the next step. This chart was produced to help support and encourage good choices in people who may find their situation difficult to cope with.

This chart is intended to help your child, young person or adult to learn to cope and to control their behaviour, especially within a classroom or care home setting. It will encourage the person to make positive choices for themselves.

This chart also allows communication between the user and the carer to understand what choice is suitable and gives a starting point for exploring alternative positive behaviour. It can be used alongside our emotions pack which helps identify the feelings which may give rise to the negative behaviour. We also do a pack showing both good and bad behaviour on cards and some behaviour cue cards which can also be used alongside this wall chart, as can our behaviour reward charts.

It is great for use at school or at nursery, also within care settings or hospital. The chart is clear and colourful enough to maintain the person’s interest and be understood easily.

The chart will help all children, young people, adults who have autism, special needs, learning difficulties or memory loss. It is also ideal as an Early Learning Aid. The chart is laminated to protect it and can be wiped clean.

Think about ordering two charts and use them at other places the person needs to go regularly as consistency is very important.
