Jerry’s Beehives was founded in 1960 by Bill and Jerry Latner. As time passed many people came to know the name Jerry’s Beehives as synonymous with quality honey whose taste is unsurpassed in central Florida. Jerry wouldn’t stop there, no indeed not. He built with his own hands what is now an state of the art extraction, bottling and packaging center in the heart of Lake County, Altoona Florida. Taking extreme care Jerry developed and a licensed small kitchen, where the real magic begins. With attention to every detail Jerry’s Beehives produces small batches with quality honey that is unsurpassed.

Exotic Honey
This south Florida honey originates near Homestead and Miami. Bees forage on the avocado, lime blossoms, lychee, and mangroves nearby, this nectar is rich in color, high in minerals, sweet to the palate, and reminiscent of molasses. Gallberry Honey
Gallberry (Ilex) is a member of the Holly family. Due to the decline of the orange trees, gallberry is probably the most important honey plant left in Florida! Local Honey
Our local honey is a cornucopia of honey from plants and trees and wildflowers all across central and north Florida. We harvest this honey late in the year to insure a wide variety of nectars. This is why local honey will vary greatly in color, taste and viscosity. However if any honey could help with allergies this would be the one! Orange Blossom Honey
Florida was once known as the “capital” of orange honey for the world and by far the largest honey crop in Florida. With the demise of the citrus business, orange blossom honey has become a “specialty” honey only produced in a few remaining counties of south Florida. The honey will vary from light to amber, can granulate faster than some Florida honeys, but is one of the sweetest honeys you will find. Palmetto Honey
The palmettos are mostly indigenous to Florida. The cabbage palmetto grows best in swamps and wooded areas and the saw palmetto is a low growing palm found in large areas of pines and along the coasts. Our Family Tupelo comes directly from Apalachicola. More specifically the Sopchoppy river basin. Our Tupelo is superb in its quality and its integrity. Never blended and pure with its legendary light green tint shown in sunlight. Our Family Tupelo boasts a excellent light floral nose across a buttery medium found nowhere except Sopchoppy.
