ADOLPHE SAX (1814-1894) - Celebrating a man and his passion for harmony.

Adolphe Sax was born in 1814 in Dinant in the heart of Belgium. His father, a producer of musical instruments, became the official supplier of the Belgian Military Band. It was in his fathers factory that Adolphe Sax discovered his passion for music. Sax developed the concept of the Saxophone in 1938 and he was so convinced that no one could match his creation that he proceeded to patent it in 1846. Sax gave his name to four families of musical instruments: the Saxhorns, Saxotrombas, the Saxtubas and of course the Saxophones.

This new collection celebrating Sax and his invention is the result of a joint effort of Delta and IASA (International Adolphe Sax Association) a non-profit association. Part of the initial proceeds of the sales of the A. Sax collection was offered by Delta to the association to sponser both saxophone courses for youngsters and the organization of the 2002 international saxophone contest.
