Description:

This fabulous piece of German Arts & Crafts metal work is approx.

6” diameter x 2” high.  The bowl is made of brass with a bulbous body

and a rounded ribbon edged lip.  It is marked “Mendelssohn, 1921, 229,--e”

on the bottom.  There are typical spots and patina wear consistent with age,

but generally it is in good vintage condition.  Please view all 9 photos.

Notes: 

Georg von Mendelssohn was a goldsmith and craftsman. 

He had a studio-home in the artists’ colony of Hellerau,

outside of Dresden, Germany. Active in the early 1900’s,

Mendelssohn was part of the “Deutscher Werkbund”

whose goal was to produce good and simple works of art.
