This is a rare single page advertising handbill (flyer) promoting the American Premiere of the PETER and ANTHONY HOWARD musical flop "SPACE IS SO STARTLING!" at John Hancock Hall in Boston, Massachusetts beginning September 5th, 1963. (Following a world tour which included stops in West Germany, Austria, Switzerland, India and Japan, the obscure British import opened September 5th, 1963 in Boston and closed there September 21st, 1963, canceling the proposed Broadway opening.) ..... Setting the search for meaning, which characterized the 1960's, against the background of the superpowers' race for space, the musical starred LELAND HOLLAND, ILENE GODFREY and CECIL BROADHURST and featured U.S. Olympic Gold Medal winners RICHARD "Rusty" WAILES and JOHN SAYRE among a cast of 99 (which included "Cosmonauts, Astronauts, Generals, Commissars, Soldiers, Beatniks, Twisters, Squatters, Examiners, a Cowboy, Hungry Men, Haters, Lovers, Sporting Types, Police, Businessmen, Teachers - the whole World." CONDITION: This rare handbill is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian.
