Please note that the original packaging may be opened to allow for the cartridges to be placed side by side in an envelope. This reduces the chances of damage during shipping and reduces the postage cost. Also during shipping, the carbon within the cartridge sometimes rubs together and causes a fine black dust causing the wool on the cartridge to appear soiled. A quick rinse under a tap will quickly remove this fine black carbon dust.
