The Mahlstick

The Mahlstick is an invaluable tool used by painters when doing fine detail art work and lettering. The use of a Mahlstick prevents smudging surrounding artwork while providing a brace for consistent steadiness and balance. This is especially useful for artists with unsteadiness as much more accuracy and precision can be attained with this classic tool. The resting end of the Mahlstick is padded with a felt cover so as not to damage or scratch art surfaces including glass. The Mahlstick can be used by both right and left handed artists.

To use the Mahlstick:
Rest the padded end of the stick onto art surface for which you plan to paint positioning your Mahlstick accordingly.
Rest the side of your lower palm onto the middle of the Mahlstick with paint brush pre-loaded and ready while holding opposite side of stick elevated above artwork.
Begin painting.
Move the elevated hand and padded end of the Mahlstick freely with work flow.
