Nel 1889 un nuovo edificio in stile neorinascimentale fu eretto su disegni di Adrian C. Petersson. Carl Larsson decorò la scalinata durante l'autunno e l'inverno del 1890-1891. I dipinti raffigurano La donna svedese attraverso i secoli dall'età della pietra ad oggi : all'ingresso ci sono Idun, Heliga Birgitta e Fredrika Bremer circondati dal testo Diligenza, obbedienza, bontà, verità, devozione . La donna dell'Età della pietra Tjeftka, la donna vichinga Gerdr. Il tempo di Gustav Vasa è rappresentato da Kerstin e Apollonia Larsdotter. Il contemporaneo è rappresentato dalle donne di Göteborg Göthilda Magnus , Clara Wallerius, Greta Runnerström, Ellen Schultz e Sigrid Westerberg. Il re Oscar II e la regina Sophia sono circondati da ruote dentate, lampadine e dalla linea telefonica. All'ultimo piano, i dipinti raffigurano il tempo della fondazione di Göteborg con Gustavo II Adolfo e Amrika. Carl Larsson non era contento dei dipinti e li considerava frettolosi ma il professor Karl-Gustav Hedén li considerò come la principale rappresentazione artistica della donna svedese. The New Elementary School for Girls is a three floors school building in the Vasastaden district of Gothenburg. In 1889 a new neo-Renaissance style building was erected with design by Adrian C. Petersson. Carl Larsson decorated the staircase during the autumn and winter of 1890-1891. The paintings depict the Swedish woman through the ages from the Stone Age to the present: at the entrance there are Idun, Heliga Birgitta and Fredrika Bremer surrounded by the text Diligence, obedience, goodness, truth, devotion. The Stone Age woman Tjeftka, the Viking woman Gerdr. Gustav Vasa's time is represented by Kerstin and Apollonia Larsdotter. The contemporary is represented by the women of Göteborg Göthilda Magnus, Clara Wallerius, Greta Runnerström, Ellen Schultz and Sigrid Westerberg. King Oscar II and Queen Sophia are surrounded by cogwheels, light bulbs and a telephone line. On the top floor, the paintings depict the time of the founding of Gothenburg with Gustavo II Adolfo and Amrika. Carl Larsson was not happy of the paintings and considered them hurried but Professor Karl-Gustav Hedén considered them as the main artistic representation of the Swedish woman.
