Rodenstock?  Rapid Aplanat 80/1.9  Exakta Prototype or Custom Made Lens  [ Serviced ]

"A highly specific item but serviced, in good optical shape. Terribly collectible :) Please do read further description below. According to my information a prototype - no second copy to exist"

According to a certain well reputed auction room I have originally got the item from (in pretty messy condition) it is either prototype or custom order made lens. My second gues would be the unique product of engineers/opticians/manufacturers leisure/spare time at work, because the lens is functional but in somewhat "raw" state (kinda "unfinished feeling" of everything). Either way, you won't find any infos or second lens like that over the internet

Given that they were selling multiple prototype or weird vintage lenses in one shot, I found their opinion credible and likely. They claimed the origin to be in Rodenstock Munchen but I have zero proofs for being so. However it almost surely does come from Germany

Origin: probably about mid to late 1940s (design somewhat fits the age, focal length already written in mm), fits Exakta cam's, mirrorlesses, likely some DSLRs, too. From pure curiousity I have tested it on my Sony A7RII before the service process and it showed typical oldschool drawing along with somewhat soft-ish and less contrasty "soft portrait" character that can be a result of both nonexistent or minimal coating layers and former optical haze that has of course been removed lately by my technician

Condition: the glasses are fine, serviced. The chassis looks good. The focus feels wobbly and jumpy but not my technicians' fault, just raw state of helicoid structure. The aperture blades are black and feel custom made, doesn't close regularly and will not ever close regularly. One blade can not be even fully closed but I witnessed no impact on photography (which is hardly a primary priority of this unique coll piece anyway). The material used on the blades feels somewhat more fragile than is usual, the aperture control feels average at best but it can be rotated. The fundamental chassis is however, in my humble opinion, uniquely and beautifully built

Once purchased, the item is NOT returnable/refundable (been photographed, described in best possible detail, CLA'ed, measured so maximum good effort possibly doable from my side) and will NOT be declared for a fake value simply because it MUST be insured up to maximum reachable valuable for maximum safety of both sides of the business. Thank you for understanding so!

I am also not interested in any kind of negotiations or discounts, it's either accepted at $5k or I simply keep it as a future investment ;)

I reserve myself a right to cancel the purchase to accounts with feedback score <10 or with unconvincing/controversial feedback history

For EU based buyers (preferred): b. transfers are allowed on demand (kindly PM me then)
