Dry Bones are skeletal versions of Koopa Troopas that are mainly found in towers and castles. They first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3, and have since become a staple in Mario spin-off games; more skeletal Koopas have since appeared in the Mario franchise, such as Bony Beetle and Dry Bowser. Dry Bones often collapse when attacked, but they soon revive themselves and become normal once again; some methods of attack can still permanently defeat them. Dry Bones is commonly made a lightweight character in some spinoff games, and is sometimes accompanied by Boo. The emblem used by Dry Bones in some appearances is based off a profile of their head.
