If you are thinking of buying a Yashica A then why not think about a ROOKIE instead? The Rookie is the same as a Yashica A but with an added bonus, you can take 6x6 photos or 6x4.5 both on 120 film.

One of the least seen of the Yashicas in the twin lens reflex range 10 years ago, it took me an entire year to find my first Rookie for my collection. Since then I have always looked out for others but it was hard to find these Rookies in good condition as they often tended to be badly neglected and often beyond economical repair. I know there's someone out there who, like me, has been waiting patiently for a good one to come along. Here's one in very nice cosmetic condition but it needs a bit of mechanical attention.

First released in March 1956 (my goodness, that's 64 years ago, and I remember it!) the Rookie uses 120 roll film and can produce 6x6 or 6x4.5cm images by using an internal mask (not supplied) and winding the film to the respective markings on the paper backing which can be viewed through a film-safe window on the rear of the camera.

Just like the Yashica A it has Yashimar f/3.5 80mm lenses with a Copal B 1/25th to 1/300th shutter which is working just beautifully on all speeds.
