MÄRCHEN ODER KEIN MÄRCHEN? Die Holzbilder-Ära hatte im Grunde zwei Themenbereiche: Eine Figur war entweder ein Märchen oder kein Märchen. Dann war es oft ein reines Kindermotiv, z.B. ein Frühlingskind mit Blumen oder ein frierender kleiner Junge mit Schneeball, wie die berühmte Heller-Figur. Die häufigsten Motive waren allerdings die klassischen Brüder-Grimm-Märchen, daher auch der Genre-Name: Märchen-Holzbilder! 

🇬🇧 FAIRY TALE OR NO FAIRY TALE? Most of the time you can divide the Wood Pictures Era into two main motives: The figure showed either a fairy tale or not a fairy tale. In the last case it very often was a mere child motive, for example a spring child with flowers or a freezing little boy with a snowball like the famous Heller boy. Most of the motives however were the the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tales, that’s why the genre name Märchen-Holzbild = Fairy Tale Wood Picture. (6/3)
