The IRI 1001 is a Handheld Thermal Imager whose small size, flexibility, and ease of use, opens up new application areas for thermal imaging. 

The hand-held thermal imager is housed in a metal case with an integral pistol-grip handle. The imaging optics, detector, drive electronics, optical modulator and rechargeable batteries are all enclosed in this case. 

The display for the imager is provided by a Compaq iPAQ palmtop computer, or as an alternative the unit can be operated using a PC (not normally supplied). The imager is supplied with a battery charger, a serial cable to connect to an IBM compatible PC, the software to operate in Microsoft® Windows environment and a rugged carry case.
