This is a set of over 40 picture cards showing various aspects of areas concerning eating and drinking with some cards suggesting ways to help. They are designed to help with problems surrounding the mechanics rather than the food itself.  Difficulty in eating and drinking can be a problem which is distressing and can occur throughout any stage in life for various reasons. These cards are designed to enable both the person and the carer to be able to start to discuss and address various aspects and make informed decisions, especially if there are communication or memory difficulties.

The sets are available in four different sizes and on key rings. The pictures are suitable for all communication systems and books or folders. For example, Pecs, story lines, story boards, sentence strip, schedules, communication books, and many other communication methods.

The key ring option makes transportation and communication between places extremely easy.

This set is offered as Flash cards which are 7 X 10 cm and square cards in sizes 3 cm, 4.5 cm, and 6 cm. All sizes are also on sale on key rings. The flash cards and key rings do not have Velcro dots on the back, but the square cards do for use with communication systems.

There are three different packs as well as the individual items: -

The 4.5 card pack contains: - a set of 4.5 cm cards and another on a key ring.

The flash cards pack contains: - a set of flash cards and another on a key.

The pictures are laminated, so they can be wiped clean. All our items come packed in a re-usable folder for safe storage when not being used.

We can supply in different languages, please message us for details. We can also supply them as choice boards for use in a folder, please contact us if you want this option.

The pack is perfect in any setting, including schools, nurseries, childminders, care homes, hospitals and personal home use and will help all people who have any difficulties with eating and drinking.

If using a visual communication system for the first time there are things you may need to consider such as the age and dexterity of your child, young person, or adult.

The 6 cm pictures are especially good for young children and those with visual difficulties. The immensely popular 4.5 cm pictures are great for people who are learning how to use a visual communication and while they develop their fine motor skills. They are easier to use than the 3 cm pictures which are for the more practised user.

You may also wish to think about how portable your system might need to be and how many cards the person will possibly have to carry around, as this may determine the size of the pictures you want. Many people use a larger size at home or school, activity or care centre and use a smaller more portable set when travelling between places. Consider eventually buying two sets so you can have one at home and one at another place which is attended regularly as consistency is especially important.
