Remarks by Samuel Johnson, a critique of Milton's 'Paradise Lost,'" in which Addison praises Milton's as a work of genius, as it unites "pleasure with truth" and "the probable with the marvelous" in its account of the creation, fall, and redemption of human beings. Johnson writes that Milton has "peculiar power to astonish." Tight binding; rubbed corners; shelf wear to leather boards, with some rubbing to gilt decorations; binding tape has been added to outer spine; text is clean and unmarked, save owner's name on title page.
