If you are familiar with the Netflix series The Queen's Gambit you will remember that Mr. Shaibley defeats Beth Harmon with Scholar's Gambit. Later he plays 1. d4, she asks if this is new, and he says "it is the Queen's Gambit." Not all attacks are gambits per se; one is the Max Lange variation in the Two Knights' Defense (1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4. d4 exd4 5. 0-0 6. Bc5 e5). Wild play ensues!
It is a very useful gambit.
