This lovely rare box, probably used to store snuff or tobacco because the inside has been gilded, has a full set of Birmingham hallmarks around the base section and a rampant lion and date letter on the lid. Makers mark is rubbed by may be L&M . Both sets are for the Edward VII year 1907.

Some very small dings on the cylindrical base, but nothing that distracts from the beauty of this box which stands on 4 feet (always a sign of quality as 3 would do just as well). The pattern is Georgian and the fantastic shell inset lid, which is inlaid with a silver bluebells and ribbon inlay, is so reminiscent of boxes made in the George II & III era.

THIS IS A FINE BOX AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR A SERIOUS COLLECTOR

Dimensions: approx 8cms high x 8cm inches diameter - The symmetry of size also reflects a Georgian style
