About the artist:
Austin Lee (born 1983) is an American artist based in New York. Lee's airbrush paintings often combine digital technologies with traditional media. He also works in sculpture and video.
His works are often described and referenced with cyberspace, internet and social media and containing a savvy sense of humor. His work and practice has been compared to Pop Art, As Andy Warhol used photo silkscreens to connect painting with the image-making technologies of the 1960s and the advertising industry, Lee fuses digital techniques inspired from the web and social media with traditional painting and highly digitalized sculptural processes to create totally contemporary works of art.
Austin Lee is represented by the Galleries Jeffrey Deitch, Peres Projects, Carl Kostyal, Postmasters Gallery and Bank Mabsociety. He is one of the most interesting young contemporary artists among other artists like Oli Epp, Cheyenne Julien, Brandon Lipchik, Sarah Slappey, Ben Spiers, Ry David Bradley, and Cathrin Hoffmann.
