What are ASTR Tools?
ASTR tools are ergonomically designed for easy to use treatment to relieve body and joint pain, increase range of motion, improve sport performance and speed up the healing process. They are clinically tested by doctors and athletes and supported by research studies. Treatment time usually takes only a few minutes a day.
ASTR A3 tool is ergonomically designed with a large handle for easy to use treatment and fast results to break down adhesion and body scar tissue. It has several head curvatures to contour to different body parts that can be used on the entire body including back, face, neck, arms and legs. ASTR began in 2011 when Dr. Jacob’s wife was suffering from intense TMJ/ Jaw pain for over 3 years. After the dentist gave her a mouth guard that didn’t relieve her symptoms, Dr. Jacobs took classes and researched various treatments regarding TMJ pain. He tried many of these approaches but had no success.
One morning, Dr. Jacobs’s wife woke up unable to open her jaw (lock jaw). She couldn’t open her mouth to talk or eat, so he tried some traditional medical techniques and each of these failed to resolve her condition. Finally, his wife urged him to try anything to relieve her pain. Dr. Jacobs began to experiment on her jaw with new maneuvers. To his surprise, only a few minutes later, his wife was able to open her jaw without pain.
Dr. Jacobs became motivated to adapt this concept into maneuvers and tools to treat the entire body and relieve his patients’ pain faster. ASTR has grown into a comprehensive specialty that includes a variety of ASTR tools and over 125 maneuvers.
Joseph Jacobs, DPT, ASTRs, ACN
Dr. Joseph Jacobs is a cancer survivor. He used to suffer from chronic migraines, headaches, fatigue and pain before he invented ASTR speciality. Dr. Jacobs began researching and developing his new specialty to treat patients’ pain more effectively than methods he had learned in school. He continued to develop the maneuvers, tools, and methodologies that ASTR is composed of, and he continues to refine the elements of ASTR through ongoing research.
Dr. Jacobs continues to spread his knowledge by teaching doctors and healthcare providers worldwide through a variety of platforms, including speaking in TedX Talks and being featured in several magazines. From celebrities to high profile politicians and athletes.
