| Synopsis: | ***ATTENTION***Audio is English with Dutch subtitles***Rare instances of Dutch audio are not subtitled in English***The Spiral is a five-episode participative TV series and will be broadcast in September 2012 across Europe. Arturo is a mysterious and enigmatic Banksy-like artist known in the art scene for his playful actions against the establishment. He runs The Warehouse, an art community in Copenhagen. Together with six young artists from The Warehouse, he sets up a major stunt: the heist of six major works of art. Arturo and the artists invite the audience to search and find the paintings to create The Spiral, the most valuable work of art. The 5 part TV-series tells the thrilling story of the six artists and the six heists in a traditional way. So the audience can just passively enjoy the story on TV, but is welcome to experience the story online and in reality. Everyone is invited to search for the paintings which are hidden in www.thespiral.eu. The collective search will in fact result in the creation of the most valuable work of art, named The Spiral. It will be inaugurated at a major event on September 28th at 9pm CET in front of the European parliament in Brussels and other locations. This event is both the end of the story on tv, online & in reality.
Notorious street artist Arturo is already world renowned for his politically charged art stunts, but in THE SPIRAL he has devised his most ambitious work yet. With the help of a band of emerging artists, he plans to steal six of Europe's masterpieces and create a global scavenger hunt based around retrieving them.
The fundamental change in media consumption and audience expectation creates new challenges for film- and television storytelling. The Spiral takes on this challenge. In September 2012, the 5 one-hour episodes will be simultaneously broadcast in 9 countries. This trans-European project combines traditional storytelling with innovative gaming, online communities and true audience involvement. |
