Antique Thomas Dicks Silver Box with Angel Cherub Figurine Handle Box 1840 
This rare and lovely little antique silver plate pen case, glasses case trinket box was hand made in 1840 by Thomas Dicks Silversmiths in London. The lid is a floral articulated pattern with an silver angel or cherub handle.  Both the top and the angel are in good condition with some wear. The round disc that the angel is standing on is raised up on one side.  The silver on the bottom box the box is worn in places on each of the four sides.  
The case/box is fully hallmarked with matching marks
Standard mark - Lion Passant Sterling .925 which we believe the lid is made of and the bottom is silver plate due to wear. 
City Mark - Crowned Leopard's Head London Assay Office
Date Letter - Old English C for the year 1840
Duty Mark -  Queen Victoria 
Maker's Mark - T D
The bottom of the box is marked HAND MADE 

The box measures 1 1/4" high by 6 3/4" wide and 1 3/8" deep.  The angel is 2 1/4" tall by 3/4" wide.
