This is a rare March 4th, 1907 program (playbill) from the second week of the Original Broadway production of the HENRIK IBSEN classic "PEER GYNT" at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City. (The production opened February 25th, 1907 and closed March 23rd, 1907 after only 22 performances.) ..... The play starred RICHARD MANSFIELD in the title role and the cast included EMMA DUNN, FRANK KINGDON, CECIL MAGNUS, MARC MacDERMOTT, SYDNEY COWELL, ADELAIDE NOWAK, ORY DIMOND, JAMES L. CARHART, VIVIAN BERNARD, WALTER HOWE, EVELYN LOOMIS, GORDON MENDELSSOHN, LAWRENCE C. TOOLE, LOUIS THOMAS, HUGH HANCOCK, FRANK REYNOLDS, ADELE KISER, MARGUERITE LINDSAY, ISABEL HOWELL, RUBY CRAVEN, OLIVE TEMPLE, JAMES NEWMAN, DAVID T. ARREY, ALICE PARKS WARREN, MURIEL WALLING, ERNEST C. WARDE, IRENE PRAHAR, GEORGE McDONALD, GERTRUDE GHEEN, HENRY WENMAN, S. B. STODDARD, ARTHUR ROW and ARTHUR FORREST ..... Side note: RICHARD MANSFIELD starred in the American Premiere production of "Peer Gynt" at the Chicago Grand Opera House which opened October 24th, 1906. This was Mansfield's final Broadway production as five months later he died of liver failure at the age of 50 ..... CONDITION: (Please Note!) Both the front and back covers have clipped corners, the front cover has a vertical fold and shows moderate edge wear and there are tape repairs to two inside pages. Otherwise this rare program is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any theatre aficionado or historian. This item will be carefully packaged in a protective, carded sleeve and backed by stiff cardboard.
