Vintage "Geek" Black Leather Biker Jacket - Large - Unique/Rare. One of a Kind?

Here is a unique find for all you motorcycle / bikers and computer history fans.

First, a little history....

There used to be a company named Megahertz that at one time was the largest producer of credit card sized modems for notebook computers. Also known as PCMCIA cards, these notebook modems allowed someone to connect to the internet, long before WiFi networks.

Megahertz merged with a much larger modem manufacturer in 1994 by the name of US Robotics. US Robotics produced a line of modems called "Sportster," using the same name as the Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle.

Which bring us to the story behind this auction...

Somewhere between 1994 and 1995, Megahertz ran a contest called "On the Road with Megahertz," with the grand prize of a Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle.

As part of the promotion behind the contest, Megahertz held a "road show" where they would travel to different cities to show off their products and the HOG being given away. Apparently, the CEO of Megahertz at the time was a biker, and he rode his Harley from city to city for the promotion, hence the "On the Road with Megahertz" name.

As mentioned, the grand prize was a brand new Harley-Davidson Sportster.

Second prize? Well, that was a leather biker jacket, with the "On the Road with Megahertz" logo embossed on the front. The very same jacket in this auction!

This jacket is sized large, and has been in storage for the past 25 years. It has never been worn. All the zippers and snaps work.

How many of these jackets exist? No one knows, and this could very well be the only one in existence. It is a unique and rare piece of history, and should appeal any computer history collector, former employee of Megahertz or US Robotics, or geek biker.
