A rare item for a collection

Made in USSR in 1965

Two hemispherical cups made of iron-molybdenum alloy, coated with activated barium oxide.

Arresters of the RB-280 type are connected between the wire and the ground and are triggered when the induced voltage relative to the ground exceeds their discharge voltage.

Designation: R - arrester; B - barium; 280 V - average discharge voltage. Deviation is allowed ± 30 V.

The spark gap consists of a flask in which 2 electrodes are placed, which include barium. The flasks are filled with argon.

Breakdown voltage, V:

at constant current ... .. 280 ± 30

pulse ... ....... 530

Current carrying capacity, A:

frequency 50 Hz for 10 s ... .......... 30

with a current wave with a duration of 60 μs ... ....... 4500

Insulation resistance between terminals, MOhm, not less ... ......... 40

Interelectrode capacitance, pF, not more ... ............... 40

Overall dimensions, mm ... ............... 200 * 96
