Welcome to jewel*box :-)

A gorgeous pendant from the Old Kingdom of Bohemia with a fine tear drop shaped filigree base. This is mounted with a glass turquoise cabachon in a fine saw tooth edged mount. Beneath is a flower with two leaves on either side. The centre of the flower is set with a marcasite.

The beautifully veined and mottled turquoise glass is known as Hubbell glass ~ A Mr Hubbell travelled to Czechoslovakia from the Mid West in the US and persuaded the glass masters to fashion a glass to rival the turquoise that was so prized at that time. He took this back to his trading post and the glass was used by the Indian tribes to fashion jewellery which Mr Hubbell then sold.

The pendant has a long decorative filigree bale for a chain ~ there is no chain present.

A wonderful size at app 57 mm in total. The cabachon is app 19 mm. There is some original factory soldering to the centre of the flower for the setting and this is more obvious in the magnified images than in real life as the area is app 1 mm wide!

An elegant and unusual piece to gift or cherish.
