Pair of antique porcelain Putti after Raffaelo Sanzio Raphael.
            (Italian 1483-1520)

    * Hand painted porcelains after a detail of the "Sistine Madonna" by Raphael completed in 1513. The Madonna is accompanied by Saint Sixtus and Saint Barbara with the two cherubim at the very bottom of the painting. An oil on canvas which almost destroyed when allies bombed Dresden in World War II. Saved by Soviet forces and then held by the Soviet Union, it has since been returned to Germany and can be seen in the Germaldegalerie Alte Meister.
    * Putti or Cherubim     
    * Italian late 19th or early 20th century.
    * Each porcelain is a convex oval 3 1/4" x 2 5/8".
    * Elaborate ornate frame with 5 3/4" x 4" opening.    
    * 8" x 6 1/4" overall.
    * "15" stamped or incised into the back of each
        porcelain.         
    * "K" stamped or incised into the back of the putti
    with forearms resting horizontally.
    * Small paper stickers on the back center of both
    porcelains.    
    * Some restoration to frame.
    * Velvet mat.    
    * Excellent condition.
