Suvorov Military School (Russian: Suvorov Military School) is a type of boarding school in the former Soviet Union, as well as in modern Russia and Belarus for boys aged 14-18. Teaching in these schools is focused on military subjects. The schools are named after Alexander Suvorov, a famous general of the 18th century.
Suvorov and Nakhimov school models were created during World War II in December 1943 to give school-age boys, especially from military families, a secondary education in military subjects (army, navy, intelligence, etc.) and training. [1] The boarding school aspect was especially important at the time, because many students were orphans in the war who were either left without parents or with one surviving mother who was incapable of raising.
