Very Good Hardcover in a Very Good Dust Jacket. Dust jacket shows moderate handling. Edge and corner wear. Edge curling. Some chipping. Author and publisher red text on spine have a little sun fade. Super clean hardback. Corner and edges have minuscule wear. One corner slightly bumped. Clean interior. Very faint toning on page margin.

When John Irving published “The World According To Garp” over 40 years ago many eyebrows were raised. As the old adage goes, “He was ahead of his time.” The book introduces us to a Trans former NFL Football player who wears a dress; Jennie, a feminist author (Garp’s mother) and a single unmarried mother, who writes a wildly popular feminist treatise who then becomes a victim of her own fame including a group of cultish followers who align themselves with Jennie; and there’s Garp and his family - he is overwhelmed with a fear for the safety of his family. These characters come alive through Irving’s incredible Dickensian writing style. A featured hallmark in all John Irving’s novels is the missing or absent father, wrestling, adultery, and sex (sometimes abstinence from).
