Cloth covers in dustjacket

Text in English

195 pages, profusely illustrated in black and white.

Scarce and much sought-after by collectors and dealers, this is the essential reference on late Victorian, Edwardian, Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau furniture.

It is profusely illustrated with black and white photographs of work, sketches and reproductions from original trade catalogues.

Designers covered include J.S. Henry, William Morris, Morris and Co., George Jack, George Walton, Ernest Gimson, Edward Barnsley, Ernest Barnsley, Sidney Barnsley, Ambrose Heal, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, C.F.A. Voysey and Mackay Hugh Baillie Scott among many others. There are timelines, biographical sketches and a directory of notable firms, as well as chapters on types of woods and finishes used and fakes and copies.

The book measures approximately 22.5 cm by 29cm

Condition:
In very good used condition with only minor signs of age and use. The dust jacket is very good indeed save for a scuff on the spine at the top. It is not price-clipped and there is a previous owner's label on the front end paper. Internally the pages are extremely clean and bright. An excellent copy of this standard work on late Victorian and Edwardian furniture.

Payment and Postage

Paypal is accepted and I do not add a surcharge to cover their fees. UK buyers only may also pay by cheque or postal order. If it's a cheque, please allow 7 to 10 days for it to clear. It may be possible for overseas customers to pay by another means, such as bank transfer, but this is by prior arrangement only.

All buyers please make contact within 3 days of auction. Payment is required within 7 days.

Non-payment

All non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. It's hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder.

Condition of items

Please note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique items and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs.

Vintage electrical items

Unless clearly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition so should be safety checked by an electrician before use.
