In 1991, Erickson posted a record of 12-2 with a 1.39 ERA in the first half season and was awarded the American League Pitcher of the Month for May and June. The Minnesota Twins would go on to win the World Series and Erickson (20-8) finished second to Roger Clemens for the American League Cy Young Award. With the Orioles, Erickson led the league in complete games (11) in 1998 and went 16-13. His best year in Baltimore was in 1997 when he went 16-7 with a 3.69 ERA. Erickson’s career was marred by elbow and labrum injuries that forced him to miss the 2001 and 2003 seasons. He finished his career with a 142-136 record and a 4.59 ERA while playing for six teams.
