I've had this forever. Never been opened. Never creased or folded. These minty-new plates are minty mint and ready to be minty framed.
** I see some that have been opened going for $600, so I'm starting high. I cannot find ANY of these sealed, anywhere, and if you are a collector that wants minty-mint stuff LIKE ME, you want to know that no one has ever, ever touched these prints. **
The Star Wars Portfolio contains 21 pieces glossy plates of the original pre-production concept art, measuring 14 x 11 inches, and shipped in a fold-out cardboard envelope with a slot on the back to hold the set together. Included with the prints is a fold-out title card and introduction by Carol Wikarska, the film's Director of Publications. The quality of the Glossy prints are very high giving the set a prestigious, collector's feel. Each print is accompanied by an extended caption explaining McQuarrie's thoughts and motivations when creating the image. These plates give an interesting insight into the film-making process.

Little bit of biographical info: In the three months following its release in May 1977 interest in Star Wars, George Lucas' space fantasy, reached almost unprecedented proportions. In September of that year Ballantine Books jumped on the bandwagon and released a portfolio of high quality prints featuring production paintings by the film's concept artist, Ralph McQuarrie. McQuarrie began working on the film over two years before its release and is credited with designing some of the film's most distinctive characters, including C-3PO, R2D2, Chewbacca and Darth Vader (it was McQuarrie's idea that Vader wear a breathing apparatus). So impressed was Lucas with McQuarrie's illustrations that the director used them to convince 20th Century Fox to bankroll the film.
Continuing my efforts to go through all my old Star Wars stuff, here is another vintage item that you cannot live without! Just kidding, I'm sure you can. But if this is the item missing from your awesome collection, you're going to want to grab it while it's still available.
