HMS BENBOW

HMS Benbow was an Iron Duke class battleship, the third ship of the class.

She was laid down on 30 May 1912 and launched on 12 November 1913. She was commissioned in October 1914 following the outbreak of WWI.

She served in the Grand Fleet during the Battle of Jutland in 1916. 

She spent the rest of the war in home waters, but was deployed assigned to the 4th Squadron of the Mediterranean after the end of the war. On 1st Februaary 1920 Rear Admiral Michael Culme-Seymouth hoisted his flag aboard Benbow. She carried out a number of shore bombardments in the Black Sea in support of the White Russians during the Russian Civil War

She remained with the Mediterranean Fleet until 1926, when she returned to the Atlantic Fleet.

 She was decommissioned in 1929, disarmed and was sold for scrapping in 1931
