Rancho® RS5000TMX Front Driver or Passenger Side Twin-Tube Shock Absorber for Lifted Vehicles 1.0"-3.0" (493443). 1 pack contains 1 item. The unique and patented rebound valving system and an advanced compression phase of the shock absorber are at the heart of Rancho's new and innovative shock. This proprietary process developed by Rancho's ride engineers will improve your vehicle's overall handling and performance on and off-road.
Rancho's RS5000X series features patented progressive rebound and compression discs. At lower speeds or in the early stages of the shock's travel, an eccentric disc in the valve shim stacks will engage the valving at lower frequencies, assisting in the control of motion energy as the shock's action cycle increases or decreases. When hitting a pothole, off-road trail obstacle, or other similar activity, Rancho's Progressive Engagement Valving allows for early fluid flow, reducing harsh initial impacts and controlling fluid flow in a progressive, gradual manner through the valving. The early flow of fluid helps to minimize a "rough" ride during on- or off-road driving activities such as washboarding or when traveling on a rough fire road because the piston movement is able to glide through the shock's initial travel motion with minimal ground impact or force. The Progressive Engagement Valving will engage further if necessary to maintain control and stability.
The Tuned Compression Control Valve is a custom-tuned, clamped disc base valve that regulates fluid transfer during the compression cycle of the shock to help absorb impacts without disc flutter and maintain vehicle control in virtually any environment. The precision-tuned shim stacked valving allows the shock to move in sync with the vehicle during on- and off-road driving. The RS5000X series shock body has a 2-1/4-inch diameter. A larger shock body allows for more fluid capacity, which allows the shock to run cooler and improves vehicle control and performance at different speeds and terrains. The RS5000X series combines a larger shock body with all-weather fluid, allowing the shock to operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 248 degrees Fahrenheit. The twin tube, gas pressurized shock has several advantages, including reducing the air-to-oil mixture, which can cause foaming and shock fade. Gas pressurization also gives the vehicle a slight boost in spring rate.
Nitro-carburizing is used to strengthen each Rancho RS5000X shock piston rod. The process improves the shock's overall durability by increasing scuff resistance and providing additional corrosion protection. Nitro-carburizing is also less harmful to the environment than chroming. The 35 mm bore of the RS5000X contributes to improved shock motion control, owing to the larger piston area. Full-displaced compression valving allows the piston to move more fluid than traditional rod-displaced valving. Using atomic diffusion, the sintering process creates objects from powders. The powdered material is heated to just below melting temperature, fusing all of the particles together to form the piston. Each Rancho RS5000X piston benefits from increased structural conformity as a result of this process. Each RS5000X series shock is equipped with a high-strength polyurethane bumper that aids in rebound motion control during harsh driving conditions. The rebound bumper significantly reduces wear and tear while driving on and off-road. When your shock rebounds at an excessive rate from an obstacle, the polyurethane bumper dampens the piston rod cycle at its maximum point of travel.
The bushings used on the Rancho RS5000X series shocks absorb additional ride harshness and reduce transmitted road noise and suspension vibration, resulting in a smoother ride and longer shock and suspension component life. The RS5000X shock's low-friction, self-lubricating seal helps to prolong performance by retaining gas and oil and allowing for faster rebound and smoother compression during the shock cycle. This seal adds an extra layer of protection against dirt and debris. Each Rancho RS5000X series shock comes with a red polyvinyl accordion protection boot that protects the shock rod and oil seal while driving on and off-road. The RS5000X composite piston band allows for smoother piston travel and increased responsiveness to changing road conditions. Because of Fluon, a slippery glass and plastic material, each glass-filled band operates extremely smoothly within the shock absorber cylinder. Rancho engineers prioritize welded construction in high-stress areas of the RS5000X shock, such as mounting points. Double-welded loops are included on each shock for added strength and durability.
