Original issue historical study monographs written primarily with assistance from former German Officers as part of the US Army's preparing a series of studies on German military operations in World War II against forces other than those of the United States.  They are all paperbacks, size is 6"x9", with maps (some are fold out), photographs (black and white), charts.  This monograph was originally printed as Dept of the Army Pamphlet 20-244, August 1956 with 227 pages and 8 fold out operational maps.  This publication (Facsimile Edition 1988) is titled - CMH Publication 104-19, The Soviet Partisan Movement.  The great German offensive of the summer of 1941 left large portions of the western Soviet Union in German hands.  Scattered partisan bands soon began operations against the German occupiers, quickly growing into a major military force.  Prepared by Edgar M Howell, this study analyzes the Soviet use of partisans both for political purposes and in strategic operations.
