Scene II~Northern VA Edition,Jan.1969~w/Groovin Strings & Things Cvr; Moby Grape
Offered is this very hard to find Northern Virginia edition of Disco Scene II magazine from July 1969. Previously known as Disco Scene, then Disco Scene II, by this point in time they started minimizing "Disco" in the magazine and it had essentially become Scene II magazine, in fact on the cover of this issue "Disco" is completely removed, but would strangely reappear in subsequent issues, but in very small font. Scene II was a high quality, glossy stock music magazine published from approximately 1966 to 1969. It had very limited regional distribution, and I believe it was principally based in Philadelphia. But, as you can see on the Table of Contents page this issue has a local Springfield, Virginia contact mailing address and name, top left of the page, and a page dedicated to the local retail outlets. Besides the national and well known music artists, the regional music scene is also covered in each issue, along with some other pop culture issues such as fashion, celebs, electronics, etc. The regional music coverage and adverts made each issue slightly different from the Scene II magazine published in other regions
Measures: 11"x 8.5", and is 60 pages in length The cover features The Groovin Strings And Things, showing a portion of their album cover. Also: Ramblings by Rekce, blurbs about local bands; Farewell to Cream article and pics; Moby Grape article and pics; Graffiti signs of the times article; Subterranean Scene insert, faux newspaper design on one side, and poster on the other side, but since it's still stapled into place and the contents don't say, the subject of the poster is mystery, as I'm not removing it. Fashion Afro photos, 2001 movie photos, full page photo of Ravi Shankar and one of Jackie Lomax. Clean and bright, as pictured.

Vinyl and Books are among the main items I sell online. However, at any given time I will usually offer a mix
of other items such collectible ephemera, advertising, electronics, toys, small items, militaria and other vintage
things. As such, I must add that I am not an expert in any one category of items I may be selling. Certainly,
I know more about some items than others, and that is generally made clear in the ads.Consider the photos
accompanying any auction or set sale as part of the description and examine them closely. Ask any pertinent
questions or raise issues before bidding or purchase. Items are stored in a pet-free environment, but second-hand items which come from a variety of sources, usually without provenance, are just that. dtst33
