This is a first edition in good condition.  It was published by Oxford University Press - London: Humphrey Milford in 1928.  There is a spare title 'label' tucked inside the back pages.


'Francisco de Holanda (Hollanda) was a 16th century Portuguese court painter and sculptor.  He wrote what is regarded as the first treatise on portrait painting in Europe, Do tirar polo natural (On Portraiture) in 1549.'

 

This is a 1st Edition / 1st Printing.

 

Condition:

Book - Good - rubbing/bumping/wear to the corners, edges and covers, a lean and fading to the spine, some marking, fading, staining and discolouration to the covers, opens v.easily to a few pages, a small tear and some creasing to a page edge, slight bumping to a few page corners and edges, some marking to the page edges and a couple of pages, slight foxing/discolouration to the page edges and a few pages, slight darkening to the top page edges and soft even tanning to the pages.
