Robert Pummill’s works have attained incredible heights and recognition with his pleasing treatment of color, light and composition with a technique of portraying the west in a manner that is appreciated by all. Pummill, born in Loveland, Ohio, became fascinated with art very early in life and took a series of correspondence art courses at the age of 11. He continued his education in fine art at the Art Center of Los Angeles and later studied under the renowned portrait artist, Ramon Froman. After moving to Texas more than a decade ago, his interest turned toward the captivating historical events of the old West and the inspiring people who endured this era and Pummill has become firmly established as an adept Western artist. He has recently received several commissions, two of which resulted in prints being made of the originals. He brings to the Western art world a quality which seasoned collectors find most refreshing with his versatile portrayals of the west full of warmth and emotion whether the scene is a subtle winter day at a way station or the raging violence of a cattle stampede or a portrait capturing the character and the true feelings of his subject. Pummill allows the viewer to intereact his own interpretations and moods and does not restrict the viewer in any way. The proficiency and dedication which is apparent in the works of this gifted artist demand close attention as he advances in the ranks of this country’s great Western Artists.
