SPICE OF LIFE

This pattern is the second most produced design. It was produced from 1972 through 1987, and featured the earth tones that were so popular in the 1970s. Spice O' Life was a band of vegetables that included mushrooms, artichokes and garlic. L'Echalote (the shallot) was written in script under the vegetables on some pieces. This pattern was also known as "French Spice" because of this.

In 1978, Corning Ware introduced the Spice of Life pattern, also known as French Spice, which was in production until the late 1980's. This pattern was a slightly improved version of the Cornflower pattern, with larger glass knobs on the lid and straighter, more square-like bodies with wider handles. Just like the Cornflower series, Spice of Life was an instant favorite becoming the second most popular pattern to collect.

The Corning Ware brand stopped production in 1989 after it was sold to Borden and then renamed World Kitchen Market. Although new versions of the cornflower pattern were reproduced in the 1990's, under the new WKM brand, home cooks continued to prefer vintage versions over brand-new ones. To this day, collectors of this beloved dishware remain loyal to the original production pieces thus creating a strong and steady market.
