'The Boyds Collection Ltd.® began in 1979 when "Head Bean" Gary Lowenthal moved to Boyds, Maryland, & opened an antique shop called The Boyds Collection.
In 1981, he began selling plush teddy bears and then, in 1987, moved to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, and formed a partnership with artist Gae Sharp to begin producing a line of jointed teddy bears, known as Boyds bears, which quickly gained popularity. Boyds is no longer trading!'
