About Hawaiian Koa wood:
Hawaiian Koa is one of the most treasured species among designers, architects, luthiers, homeowners, guitar builders, woodworkers and consumers. It only grows in Hawaii.
Sustainability: Due to limitations on harvesting in Hawaii, availability is scarce. However, it is not an endangered wood.
Koa is known for it rich warm gold/red/brown colors, incandescent grain, contrasting ribbon streaks of colors within its growth rings and stunning figure. It has a unique chatoyancy.
Generally speaking, Koa machines and sands well. It looks magnificent with an oil finish.
This slab is located in our Southern California warehouse. Shipping is economical within the continental United States.
