'Heroin / Cocaine', 2017
Artist Designed Salt and Pepper Shakers / Multiple
This unorthodox set of porcelain salt and pepper shakers are certified to add a talking point to any table setting. The shakers feature an organic shape reminiscent of a salt sculpture with striking black handwriting by British artist David Shrigley. The humorous cult classic is a collector's item while also highly functional. Keep for yourself or gift as you like!
Cast porcelain sculptural salt and pepper shakers labelled 'Heroin' and 'Cocaine'.
These shakers were originally commissioned for the Collection Lambert in Avignon in 2000 and specially re-commissioned for David Shrigley's major solo exhibition at London's Hayward Gallery in 2012. This latest edition is created by Third Drawer Down, Australia.
Can be displayed as small sculptures in your home as well as used functionally on your table or in your kitchen.
David Shrigley lives and works in Glasgow, Scotland where he attended Glasgow School of Art. Shrigley works with drawing, animation, photography and sculpture. His work is marked by a bleak humour that below the surface reveals thoughtful truths about the human condition. The works - at times seemingly frustrated or bordering the absurd - comment either Shrigley's own life or our world in general. Social indignation plays no small part in the creation of the works or in the way that the artist sees his role within society. In addition, Shrigley regularly publishes books with Redstone Press. His most recent publication is Kill Your Pets.
Founded in Melbourne, Australia in 2003, Third Drawer Down is a producer and collaborator of artist-driven gifts and homeware that is filled with irony, intelligence and tongue-in-cheek humor.
